Disney World Memories (part 1)

My 2012 Disney World vacation is just a few days away now. By this time Saturday I’ll be on a plane with my wonderful girlfriend, Deb, and Orlando will be our destination. For seven days I’ll be seeing as much as possible and doing my best to relax at the happiest place on Earth.

This will be my fourth year visiting Disney World and it never seems to get old for me. Every year I bring home pictures and after years of photographing the big iconic touristy stuff I’m planning to capture more of the smaller details this year. But before I leave I thought I’d take a few minutes to share some pictures from last years trip. Looking at these pictures always brings a smile to my face.

Epcot

Last year my Disney World vacation started at Epcot. Here’s a shot of Deb and I when we first arrived (photo taken by my good friend Mark Tremonti).

I love Epcot. The World Showcase is just incredible. I love making my way from country to country as I take in all the nuances of each unique land. Drinking around the world has become an annual tradition and I’m looking forward to doing it again this year. I’m also planning to have many meals and snacks at the awesome restaurants of Epcot. Ending my nights in Epcot will involve finding a good place to see the Illuminations fireworks show. As much as I love the fireworks I also love the music. It’s a treat for both the eyes and for the ears.

When the fireworks show ends and you make your way to the exit the colorfully illuminated Spaceship Earth is there to say goodnight. It’s an incredibly way to end your evening at Epcot.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Another one of my favorite theme parks of Disney World is the Animal Kingdom. I love photographing wildlife and in this park I can let that part of my personality come out. To my girlfriends horror I always wear my photo safari vest and my floppy safari hat. While it’s good practice to have things like memory cards and sun tan lotion available in a photography vest, it’s also a good way to get into the proper frame of mind of being in this incredible theme park. Here’s a shot of the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom shot by my buddy Mark Tremonti:

And here’s a shot of me in my safari outfit with my girlfriend Deb (photo taken by Mark Tremonti). Usually my camera (with grip and a 70-200mm f2.8) completes my look but it was used to take this picture.

Here’s a few of my favorite shots from Disney’s Animal Kingdom:

And of course I saw some animals.

I took a bunch of pictures at both Epcot and at the Animal Kingdom but I don’t want this blog post to get too long. I’ll go ahead and end part 1 here and I’ll pick up part 2 with pictures from Disney’s Hollywood Studio and the Magic Kingdom tomorrow.
