“Quenching Her Thirst”

For this weeks Featured Image of the Week I chose a new shot of Sumatran Tiger Sukacita who is enjoying a drink from the large pond in her outdoor habitat. This is another shot captured at the National Zoo (in Washington, DC) and it’s been the basis for some very interesting conservation conversations on social media.

“Nababiep”

This week for my Featured Image of the Week I chose another shot from the National Zoo. I visited the zoo a week ago to see how all of the youngest animals are doing but I also spent some time getting some shots of the adults. This is a shot of lioness, Nababiep, relaxing and keeping an eye on her cubs. To get these kinds of shots there’s a few things I like to do to really help me increase my odds of success.

In a previous Featured Image of the Week I shared a few tips that I use to help me get my shots at the National Zoo. This week I’ll be sharing a few more tips.

“a Star Spangled Banner”

For this weeks Featured Image of the Week I went back to find a shot from my 2013 visit to Baltimore, Maryland. While I was in Baltimore I took in a baseball game, toured the famous Inner Harbor area and I also made a stop at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. It was this fort that gave birth to the American National Anthem 200 years ago (yesterday) during the War of 1812 and it was a really awesome place to see.

For this Featured Image I’ll share a few tips about travel photography and include a few more images from my adventure to see where the Star Spangled Banner was born.

Camera Rain Covers

A few days ago my Featured Image of the Week featured a shot I captured at the National Zoo in the rain. In the article that accompanied the shot I talked about how I like to continue shooting when the weather is less than perfect. I’ve worked for years as an event photographer and if it starts to rain and the show goes on I still have to deliver pictures. I’ve used a number of accessories over the years to make sure I can keep working no matter what the conditions and Rain Sleeves are a super inexpensive way to keep shooting even when it starts raining.

For this article I’ll be sharing my thoughts about the four Rain Sleeves I own.

“A Tiger in the Rain”

This week’s featured image of the week is a shot from a while back that I took of a Sumatran Tiger at the National Zoo (in Washington, DC). The reason I chose this shot for my featured image this week is because I just learned that this shot will be one of the featured images in the Plus One Collection Volume III.

“Lincoln Memorial”

This week’s Featured Image of the Week is a shot of the statue inside the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. The final image is a result of capturing three images at the memorial (a bracketed set) and using Lightroom, Photoshop and onOne Perfect Effects to create my final image.
